This award was created in 2003 after the death of Sioux City East Coach Walt Fiegel who was also the Executive Director of the Iowa Football Coaches Association. It honors an individual who embodies the high character, integrity, concern for kids, and service to the profession that were modeled by Coach Fiegel. It is presented to the winning coach at halftime of the 4-A football Championship game at the UNI dome.
